The Main Purpose

What comes to your mind when you are given a job offer? Probably you would think, “What are the responsibilities and the tasks? What competencies should I master? How about my educational background? Do I have to have certain experiences?”

Well, those are the common questions we ask when we are about to work. And those questions are the results after we perform job analysis.

As we understand, job analysis includes activities of gathering and collecting detailed data and information on the targeted job and the requirements of a personnel that is suitable to fill in the job.  By analyzing a job, we could identify some information like requirements, responsibilities, tasks, scopes, educational background, experiences, competencies, qualities, physical and emotional skills, and working environment.

The information is very valuable for the organization. All the detailed information collected by analyzing a job leads us to the main purpose of job analysis. It is to create and balance a perfect harmony between the job and the required employee. If the steps of job analysis are perfectly conducted, the ideal of  “the right person in the right job” could be established.

The result of conducting job analysis is job description which is valuable in recruiting the right candidate.  Job analysis is conducted as a basis for future improvements, including: definition of a job domain; describing a job; developing performance appraisals, selection systems, promotion criteria, training needs assessment, and compensation plans.
